Program Objectives

Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) for Exercise and Sports Science Majors

Students will:

  1. Demonstrate comprehension of the sciences applied to human function and exercise
  2. Demonstrate the ability to appraise behavioral and physiologic outcomes related to musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, and cardiovascular human function
  3. Demonstrate the ability to retrieve, manage, and critically analyze data relevant to the improvement of health and human performance
  4. Demonstrate the ability to effectively summarize and disseminate, both written and orally, information relevant to the improvement of health and human performance
  5. Demonstrate the ability to design and implement strategies, utilizing contemporary techniques, for improving health and human performance.
  6. Participate as professionally prepared and responsible members of their chosen profession and community.

 

Alumni have careers in a wide variety of settings, including:

  • College/university strength and conditioning coaches
  • Corporate wellness
  • Pharmaceutical sales
  • Community activity programming
  • Fitness facility management
  • K-12 physical education teaching
  • K-16 coaching

Many graduates continue their education in graduate school, including programs in:

  • Exercise Science/Exercise Physiology
  • Biomechanics
  • Professional programs – e.g., Chiropractic, Dental, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant and Medical School
  • Education – e.g., Foundations, Theory, Teaching
