01-29-16 nursing white coat ceremony-149 (4)[1]On Jan. 29, 2016, the School of Nursing in the Oxley College of Health Sciences held its White Coat Ceremony for the second year. Nursing students who will graduate in 2018 transitioned into their future profession through the process of cloaking, or having lab coats officially placed on their shoulders by faculty members.

The cloaking ceremony signifies the transition from the study of preclinical to clinical health sciences and a commitment to provide compassionate, patient-centered care among incoming nursing students. 01-29-16-nursing-white-coat-ceremony-129[1]

The ceremony also emphasizes how the students will experience a unique education process, including changes in the way they think and how they approach clinical practice on their journey to becoming a nurse.
